hmmm

seems i am "magically" back on wordans website. as my designs were "magically" put back on after i took them all down. Why? I had asked my co-worker frank to check in, but wordans never called me back. Now they sell my designs, although i do get 2 dollars per sale and I am up to 60 dollars they owe me but.. yeah. I was not asked to put them back up or anything, they did it on their own. Which kinda makes me angry since I am competing with myself with wordans, are they taking business form me? I do not know. Their "christmas came early" shirt looks like they butchered my design. good thing my obama head looks ten times better with the original. I have really no beef with wordans, but i really wish if they wanted to keep my designs they ask me. instead of taking them and offering me 2 dollars per sale. gee wow thanks! 2 dollars, in reality i get 16 off one sale on my own. If they really wanted an obama shirt anyways they coulda just asked me to specialize one of my many many obama shirts for them.

Day ?? A new day, no more store on wordans, and new adventures of ebay

It is the end of the line for me at Wordans, recently I was told to stop adding images to Wordans, meh but I have thousands of designs what am I going to do with them! Oh well I finished those boxer ones, and those euro ones, I created probably 300 more designs since I last posted a blog. Yes I been busy. I moved through the eBay channels and made another account. Well not made but resurrected my first. But man having some issues with eBay and my main seller. He finally gets his feet planted and back into selling and 7 days pow I get suspended for the same crap, the exact same reason and for the same stuff I did last 35 days ago.

Could they not let me go on and fix this stuff? My seller performance was doing really well and sales were spiking. There was no need to close the clamp on me. But that is what I find, there are so many sellers that ebay just doesn’t give a fuck and any person at the company has so much power. Just the other day on that account I got listings removed because of keyword spamming, retarded as it was I was not allowed to list a Britney spears shirt of Britney spears because I was taking advantage of the name. But it was a picture of Britney spears. I sucked it up and called eBay they were like uhmm ops sorry so yeah they were allowed to be listed again because my logic was logical. Usually is. And I am not being egotistical.

Now I have a pet peeve, it seems people out there do not understand the concept of DPI,

Dots per inch (DPI) is a measure of spatial printing or video resolution, in particular the number of individual dots or pixels within the span of one linear inch (2.54 cm.)

Now understand this, most images I get from people are 72 dpi jpgs or gifs, my main response is trying to hold in the frustration and assembling in my mind which steps I can take to fix this. We used to outsource at work to another company and they would constantly send in 72 dpi images, mind you I did get the odd 200 and 300 which I smiled to. But on another note the people who ran the company would give me 96 dpi images, or under. I was really shocked because they are in the same business as me why would they send such shitty quality images. (The best part is customers would complain about the shirts, uhmm hey did you see your image. Did you really expect a 1”x1.5” image to come out as 200 dpi 10”x11” crystal clear)

DPI in digital image files

DPI refers to the physical size of an image when it is reproduced as a real physical entity, for example printed onto paper, or displayed on a monitor. A digitally stored image has no inherent physical dimensions, measured in inches or centimetres. Some digital file formats record a DPI value, which is to be used when printing the image. This number lets the printer know the intended size of the image, or in the case of scanned images, the size of the original scanned object. For example, a bitmap image may measure 1000×1000 pixels, a resolution of one megapixel. If it is labeled as 250 DPI, that is an instruction to the printer to print it at a size of 4×4 inches. Changing the DPI to 100 in an image editing program would tell the printer to print it at a size of 10×10 inches. However, changing the DPI value would not change the size of the image in pixels which would still be 1000×1000. An image may also be resampled to change the number of pixels and therefore the size or resolution of the image, but this is quite different from simply setting a new DPI for the file.

For vector images, there is no equivalent of resampling an image when it is resized, and there is no DPI in the file because it is resolution independent (prints equally well at all sizes). However there is still a target printing size. Some image formats, such as Photoshop format, can contain both bitmap and vector data in the same file. Adjusting the DPI in a Photoshop file will change the intended printing size of the bitmap portion of the data and also change the intended printing size of the vector data to match. This way the vector and bitmap data maintain a consistent size relationship when the target printing size is changed. Text stored as outline fonts in bitmap image formats is handled in the same way. Other formats, such as PDF, are primarily vector formats which can have bitmaps pasted into them. In these formats the target DPI of the bitmaps is adjusted to match when the target print size of the file is changed. This is the converse of how it works in a primarily bitmap format like Photoshop, but has exactly the same result of maintaining the relationship between the vector and bitmap portions of the data.

Up to a point, printers with higher DPI produce clearer and more detailed output. A printer does not necessarily have a single DPI measurement; it is dependent on print mode, which is usually influenced by driver settings. The range of DPI supported by a printer is most dependent on the print head technology it uses. A dot matrix printer, for example, applies ink via tiny rods striking an ink ribbon, and has a relatively low resolution, typically in the range of 60 to 90 DPI. An inkjet printer sprays ink through tiny nozzles, and is typically capable of 300-600 DPI.[1] A laser printer applies toner through a controlled electrostatic charge, and may be in the range of 600 to 1800 DPI.

The DPI measurement of a printer often needs to be considerably higher than the pixels per inch (PPI) measurement of a video display in order to produce similar-quality output. This is due to the limited range of colours for each dot typically available on a printer. At each dot position, the simplest type of colour printer can print no dot, or a dot consisting of a fixed volume of ink in each of four colour channels (typically CMYK with cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink). Contrast this to a standard sRGB monitor where each pixel produces 256 intensities of light in each of three channels (RGB) to additively create 256³ = 16,777,216 colours. The number of unique colours for a printed CMYK dot from this simplest type of inkjet printer is only 8 since no coloured ink is visible when printed on black and black is used instead of CMY:

While some colour printers can produce variable drop volumes at each dot position, and may use additional ink colour channels, the number of colours is still typically less than on a monitor. Most printers must therefore produce additional colours through a halftone or dithering process. The exception to this rule is a Dye-sublimation printer that utilizes a printing method more akin to Pixels per inch.

The printing process could require a region from four to six dots (measured across each side) in order to faithfully reproduce the colour contained in a single pixel. An image that is 100 pixels wide may need to be 400 to 600 dots in width in the printed output; if a 100×100-pixel image is to be printed inside a one-inch square, the printer must be capable of 400 to 600 dots per inch in order to accurately reproduce the image.

So what am I going to do, I pulled out my designs on Wordans, and considering the staff there stopped speaking to me when I kept asking about the issues I was having with not being able to make products of all my designs. I know I probably won’t get the 14 dollars they owe me, but whatever. They made what 300 – 370 dollars off me and I get 14 dollars, really do not feel it is worth it considering I sold a shirt on ebay yesterday for 32.00 and I made 16.50 profit. Hmmm. I also really did not like not knowing what was selling, it was kind of annoying because I like to analyze market trends. NERD OMG. I won’t say what I do with my ebay accounts.

I plan to also make 10 feedback out of my other ebay account. I think I can handle 3 accounts and their fees. Also I have my own website which I will put several shirts on maybe a few thousand and get the store set up. It is a shame though I was asked to remove my presence from Wordans, despite the bugs, despite the horrible money I made, and despite the other problems I had it was a really easy website for me. I could just throw them up, I could leave them there, and I could slowly collect on them. Although it was completely unprofitable. It was also pointless to buy my own designs from them considering I can get them done for cheaper and well I have easy access to get them done.

Oh well time to plan my attack. I got so many designs though at the moment I need to list somewhere! FUCK EBAY btw, I hate that dashboard seller shit.

Day 15, Half through the first month here

I am sitting here designing my little heart out, and working on this and that and came up with another eBay template I can use for my reopening of my other store. I am learning that simple is sometimes better and elegant. What I do wish is that others see this benefit. The designs I been doing today seem not to be part of my best; I don’t know maybe I feel taped inside. The rock music from the 70s blaring from the radio behind me and the thoughts of will I have descent designs for the company today worrying me. I currently have done about 15 shirts so far. I did some Adam West, BATMAN, designs, some old retro show designs. I did a Rocky Horror Picture show one, one about pirates not giving up, another about Mr. Bean and a Harry Potter one. Currently, I am trying to get my head wrapped around what would look good. I uploaded like 8 to Wordans yesterday and still only 2 dollars in profit from there. But my eBay store saw about 300 dollars just for yesterday. I am excited about getting my other one up because it was the power house seller of the two. It holds the record of 24 shirts in one day this year. Now the other account can go back to barely selling shirts.

I have been at odds with a customer from that the Tbros account for awhile. They are so impatient and really unforgiving. I wish they just waited and understood it is on the way. International orders could take some time to get out there. Guns and Roses are playing and I am done writing this post for the day.

Day 13 - The aftermath

No this is not some Dr Dre Album name idea. You might have noticed 2 days without a stupid post. But I have not really been up to it. Now I know I said I would come with a ton of designs this weekend but it was not something I could come up to do. Even today I was sent home because I was not looking good. So it is 9:30 pm I am gritting my teeth ate something and pretended to drink. And I feel ready to tackle this week’s worth of work! On a funny tidbit I came to after coming home from work today with a WHERE IS MY LAPTOP!!!! But as I sat and thought about it, I remembered I left it at work because I just didn’t want to forget it.

You know I was really pleased to get Daryl’s email because it was so polite and kind. I hope the stress of the job is finally subsiding. After all, we all make mistakes and I do not want to point my finger at them, in fact I hate to, when something gets fucked up. I been thinking a lot about vector plotting some more designs. Although they take a little longer to do and although they can be a hardship to do; I have been stewing in my brain about doing more designs like the kayne west one in the Wordans blog. Is there a market for that? It is hard to say, but what I do know is that I have sold several got shirts. Which in turn will lead me to make fancy shirts of those players. So far it is too soon to figure out who is popular or not.

Did anyone else enjoy the new Indy film? Wow it rocked! So did Narnia and Strange Wilderness and the Air I Breathe.

Yeah nothing to eventful to say, but I rather cook and do the designing first than mention it.

Day 10 - It's a Joke!

So yeah this blog is dedicated to idiots. Ha. When I came home from the office I noticed this email in my inbox in reference to this shirt:

Dear italianstallion905,

im sure your not man enough to where that t shirt here!! YOU HAVE ZERO CLASS

- rossman012

Dear rossman012,

It is a joke. But, "I'm sure you're not man enough to wear that t-shirt here!!"

Thanks for the message and the concern, I have a lot of class.

- italianstallion905

Dear italianstallion905,

your right i would not wear that shirt, nor do i have the desire to go to canaDUH

- rossman012

Dear rossman012,

ok :) Blame Canada right? Why would you want to go to Canada, it is so far from the states. Isn't Canada next to Mongolia?

- italianstallion905

Ok I am done; I just wanted to share that with the world. It is kind of amusing he got offended by that. Maybe it is just because I am a Canadian.

Now, I just like to say I haven’t been slacking on my uploading of designs. This weekend I plan to fill my quota, it is just things have been busy at work and I had to get it all together and make sure things got done. Today I made an awesome custom t shirt order for someone and I like it so much that I am going to sell it myself. That is the advantage of getting people coming to the store making custom shirts. Sometimes they look really good and since I am the creator I can steal my own artwork and use it in other avenues.

I bought the Blue Ray for I am Legend. CONTROVERSIAL ENDING! OMG, yeah that was the selling point. But I wish that Blue Ray was a little cheaper. But you do pay for what you get though so I am just glad it isn’t too cheap. I spent the day making cartoon t shirt designs and doing a stag ticket for my bosses best friend. Turned out really good I made it look like the female in the picture had the guys name tattooed on her breast. Not much of an accomplishment, but hey you take them when they come.

I am not sure which avenue I will explore in terms of creativity for these new designs this weekend. I was thinking controversial, but then music. But I know for sure I am going to add a few for humour just because. Still no more sales from that one on Wordans, and it was only a partial sale because they just used my design.

Day 9 – Choosing and Picking is hard to do

Now, this week I have been working hard.

The Week Previous I did got shirts for all the euro 2008 players. With a soccer ball in the o for got.

Last week I did first set for the top 50 boxers, seems I am going to revisit that theme once I am done this week.

This Week I am doing 80s Cartoons, and even though I am toppling over into the 70s and 90s it is turning out well. I have a generic theme to them. Also this week was alot of personal designs I did for myself to put in my Wordans account. I was not hardcore into designing tonight for Wordans. It seems to be a self inflicted time out. But tomorrow I will be up and at it.

To Date: Total: 1807 visitors have visited my Wordans store

And I am up-to-date in approvals which makes me happy. Although the one thing that bugs me is I only have 2 dollars in earnings there. I have better luck on eBay it seems. But from eBay what I have learned is what you think will sell won’t sell. For instance: My Hello Kitty Design and today I sold 13 shirts on ebay. This is about 325 dollars. Yesterday it was 325 dollars too. That is 650 dollars in two days plus my pay check of 240 dollars for both days, which is roughly 890 dollars in 2 days. Sure Taxes, shipping, production costs all come into play but it is not going to take the entire 650 dollars. So the question: How can you guarantee designs that will sell.

What I have learned through trial and error is the shirts that will sell are the shirts that people want. Now I cannot account for why tina turner shirts sold, but maybe she was in the news. New cd? New concert? What is important is keeping up with the news. You could have the best shirt in the world, but no one knows it exists. That is the problem, sure I have sold personal designs but that is only because of the reputation of my other shirts. When they see what else I sell that they are hooked. Another fact is I offer something not many or no one else does. This puts me on the map.

http://search.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&catref=C6&from=R40&satitle=bo+knows+t+shirt&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=L1c5g7&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2

I am the only one on eBay that offers this shirt, and as you saw from my top sellers list. It sells.

http://search.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&catref=C6&from=R40&satitle=sooty+t+shirt&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=L1c5g7&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2

Where is my competition?

http://search.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&catref=C6&from=R40&satitle=wllz+98.7+shirt&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=L1c5g7&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2

Again not much competition. I have 8 auctions, the other guy has one and that will go away in a few days. Mine cycle through once every 30 days and refrehe. It will never end.

So this is not a blog persay about designing it is more of selling your designs. You need to hook them in order to sell them. I am hoping my presence on Wordans picks up and my dvd and books section takes off, because that is some bonus funds that will come in.

Day 8 – The Calm before the storm

You know I am getting sick and tired of fast food places. I hate fast food but I do enjoy KFC popcorn chicken. But, I have noticed how much they rip me off for the past month. I remember popcorn chicken from when I used to work there. You used to get a nice sized portion. Now it barely fills up small cup it used to be in. Literally there is like 14 pieces of small popcorn chicken in it.

So BOOM About a day so far with taking advantage of the 5 cent deal and I am bombarded with several sales. Several designs from south park, hello kitty and Tina Turner. Ha, Tina Turner of all things.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Despite all the crap that involves any job; I enjoy my job. It is a faucet of creativity in my life. Like who else could spend all day in front of a computer literally drawing. It is not a gloating piece but more of a personal glory. At all of the bs jobs and crap I have put up with over the years I finally have a job I can smile and enjoy going to. The main thing I do not like is the lack of communication sometimes which leads to problems and people getting pissed off. Fine, I understand that sometimes not everything can go right, but when you are over top of me accusing me doing something wrong when you told me to do it that way irritates me. Whatever, I will be annoyed for five minutes and then just forget about it. That is who I am.

I am a very simple person, and do not ask for much. But the only things I want in a car and a piano. But I am confident that it will be available to me now. Tomorrow I will talk about designing more. Just got alot on my mind today.
